Other Business Troubles. SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 2.-The failure of the firm of Samuel Blaisdell, jr., & Co., of Chicopee, Mass., large wholesale dealers in cotton and woolen stocks of all grades, was announced to-day. The house is one of the largest in this section, its business extending from Halifax to San Francisco in this country and from Sweden to Spain in Europe. Liabilities, $275,000; assets not known. CLEVELAND, O., Nov. 2.-The Seaman & Smith Company, the oldest established retail boot and shoe house in the city went into the hands of the sheriff to-day on notes aggregating about $10,000; assets, $30,000. The concern has been in a bad way financially for several months owing to the general falling off in trade. SPORTS FRANKFORT, Ky., Nov. 2.-The Bank of Columbus, Hickman county, since notification that it was about to be sued for a penalty for failing to report its condition to the Secretary of State, has sent in the report, with the statement that it has suspended. CINCINNATI, Nov. 2.-The State Western Chemical Company, doing business at Nos. 48 to 52, Providence street, was closed up by the sheriff to-day.
