PRIVATE BOONE COUNTY BANK QUITS BUSINESS Ind., Dec. 16 The Whitestown Bank. private institution at Whitestown. Ind., eight miles southeast of here, with total resources of nearly $300,000, closed its doors today. The closing of the bank was cided upon voluntarily by the board of directors which called upon Chief State Examiner Thomas Barr to liquidate the bank's assets. The bank officials explained that their decision to suspend operations indirectly due to the closing of the Rosston Bank, near here, cently. Perry Hancock. cashier of the Rosston Bank, is now in the State prison at Michigan City as the result of an alleged $14,000 shortage. Distrust born of the Rosston bank failure has caused run on the Whitestown Bank the directors said. The Whitestown Bank was organized ten years ago. Last April distastrous fire swept Whitestown, destroying the bank building among others. The bank was fulcovered by insurance against loss but surrendered its State charter and reorganized as private institution. Depositors of the Whitestown Bank will be paid in full the directors announced. Levi Butler, of Indianapolis, spent the day with relatives in this city. Clifford Hooton has obtained ployment at the city electric light plant. Wayne Thompson, who has been in California for the past few months, is in this city for few days. Mrs. Omer Jackson spent the day in Indianapolis. Mrs. E. Eggleston and daughter, Kathryn spent Monday in dianapolis. Mrs. Emmett Eastes, Mrs. Leon Eastes and son, Wayne, of Mt. Comfort shopped in this city Monday afternoon. Miss Vivian Wallace and Miss Imogene Hole, of Mt. Comfort, spent Saturday in Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Fisk and Mrs. Fisk transacted business Indianapolis, Monday.
