WRECKKER OF BANK ARRESTED. Akron (Ind.) Cashier, Who Embezzled $24,500, Makes Confession. Chicago, July 6.-Howard B. Harter, twenty-eight years old, who, through unsuccessful speculation, wrecked the Citizens' bank of Akron, Ind., which was founded by his father, Andrew P. Harter, was arrested on Thursday in Chicago on an indictment charging him with having embezzled $24,500 of the funds of the institution. Harter was cashier of the bank and his father was president. His mother was one of the directors. The bank suspended business on November 3, 1911. All the depositors, mostly farmers, were paid dollar for dollar by the stockholders. Harter is alleged to have admitted his guilt to the police and declared he was anxious to return to Akron and "face the music."
