WINCHESTER BANK CLOSED WINCHESTER, Ind., Dec. 8 (INS) The Farmers and Merchants Bank. a $700,000 institution here, failed to open its doors today following a run on the bank Saturday which exhausted its cash. Thomas Barr, assistant State banking commissioner. was here today conferring with the directors of the bank. It was reported that an attempt is being made to reorganize he bank. The closed bank was one of the oldest banking institutions in Eastern Indiana having been in business for more than half a century. Philip Kabel is president and D. M. Simmons is the cashier.
