Three other banks in the city were not affected. The closed institutions were the St. Joseph County Loan and Trust Company with deposits of approximately $7,000,000 and the St, Joseph County Savings Bank, a $2,000,000 institution.

Seven And Nine Million Dollar Institutions Topple

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Feb. 18.—Two large South Bend banks closed their doors today. Three other banks in the city were not affected.

The closed institutions were the St. Joseph County Loan and Trust Company with deposits of approximately $7,000,000 and the St. Joseph County Savings bank, a $2,000,000 institution.

Officers of the banks issued a statement that the closings were due to a heavy drain on the savings accounts.
