TOPEKA MEN INVOLVED. Included in List of Creditors of H. C. Speer. Several Topeka banks, the receivers of the Topeka Commercial Security company and the estate of the late T. J. Kel lam are included in the list of creditors in the bankruptcy petition of Henry C. Speer, filed in the United States court in Chicago this week. Mr. Speer's liabilities amount to $513,000. and his assets, listed at $67,891 are practically worthless, consisting principally of stock in defunct banks and railroad companies. Mr. Speer at one time maintained offices in Topeka, Chicago and Boston. In 1897 he closed his Topeka and Boston offices and removed to Chicago. His financial troubles date from the stringency of 1893. Of his liabilities, $84,826.85 is in favor of the defunct Topeka Commercial Security company and its receivers. The defunct Kansas National bank is listed for $13. 927.50, the First National bank for $5,192.71, Merchant's National bank for $4,300. receiver of the Topeka Investment company, $1,500, Topeka Railway company $4,660 and estate of T. J. Kellam $2,580.
