elsewhere that the bank of New Baden was "going broke." This caused quite a bit of excitement and the first thing the bank knew some of their depositors started withdrawing their money. There was somewhat of a "run" on the bank and it was found that Knieriemen was the one who was circulating a false report in regard to the bank's condition. Authorities were notified which resulted in his arrest. As a result of the above an information was also filed against John Rieken of New Baden for making statement derogatory to bank Wednesday and a warrant issued for his arrest. It is alleged that Rieken told Knieriemen that the bank was "broke," and that's why the latter became busy and circulated the report.
