Rumor of Merger Closes The Smaller Bank
RALEIGH, N. C., Dec. 20—(Special.)—The rumor of a merger with a Newbern bank caused a run on the Bank of Vanceboro this week which resulted in the closing of the smaller institution.
The corporation commission supervising banking announced that the bank has $60,000 capital and $200,000 deposits.
