Notice of Revocation of Authority. TOPEKA, KAS., February 14, 1898. G. G. Gilbert, President; J. W. Gilbert, Cashier. Midland Bank. Dodge City, Kansas: GENTLEMEN:-You are hereby notified that in accordance with the provisions of chapter 47 of the laws of Kansas of 1897, the authority of the Midland Bank (it corporation doing business as a bank at Dodge City, Kansas) to transact a banking business is hereby revoked; and further, that I have requested the Attorney General to commence an action for the purpose of dissolving said corporation and for the appointment of a receiver to wind up its affairs. Deputy Bank Commissioner Osborn was here last week and made an examination of the affairs of the Midland Bank. It is reported that the bank lacks considerable cash to make liquidation of its liabilities. A receiver will probable be appointed.

Gove City is trying to build a town hall. Atchison wants the Populist State convention. An anti-bootlegger ticket is likely to be nominated at Chapman. An epidemic of measles is hindering the work of the State normal. The Le Roy Reporter is pleased with the operation of the hedge law. Ex-Representative Bucklin of Thomas county, has gone to Klondike. The Wellington Voice is convinced that there will not be an extra session. The Wichita police force recently made thirty-one arrests in twenty-four hours. Shawnee county Republicans gave Curtis the delegation without any opposition. March 29 is the day that the churches have been requested to observe as teme perance day. The Osborne Farmer says that Coburn could not be defeated for Governor if nominated. Ex-Chief Justice Horton will head Curtis' Congressional delegation from Shawnee county. The Fourth district Republican committee has elected Z. Harlan, of the Eureka Herald, as its chairman. The Topeka city council has invited the G. A. R. people to hold their State reunion at Topeka this year. Bank Commissioner Breidenthal will have a receiver appointed for the Midland State Bank of Dodge City. The Santa Fe has reduced its working hours in its shops over the State from fifty-four per week to forty. Larned parties have organized a Klondike company and have sent one of their number to the gold fields. Dave Leahy assumes that because Dan Anthony is for John Seaton that Cy Leland must surely be against him. The rain of last Thursday was quite hard in the eastern part of the State and rather light in the western portion. Ex-Senator Willcoxson says that Harry Pestana will get the Sixth district Republican nomination for Congress. The Sixth district Republican Congressional convention will be held at Beloit, June 15. Six other towns fought for it. W.B. Townsend (colored), of Leavenworth, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Auditor. Doniphan county Republicans instructed for Bailey for Congress with very little opposition. The State delegation is uninstructed. Fred Vandegrift says that as nobody else seems to want to run for Attorney General it is not unlikely that all parties will fuse on Boyle. The Seventh district Populist committee met at Hutchinson and set May 19 as the date for the convention, which will be held at Hutchinson. Speaking about the anti-Leland scrap, Tom Morgan says that there will be plenty of good fighting before Leland and his gang are knocked out. The Kansas Democrat Editorial Association will meet at Iola, April 13. J. Goshorn, of the Iola Sentinel, will have charge of the arrangements. Nobody is more deserving of the good things being said of him than Billy Morgan, of the Hutchinson News. He is credited with having been the factor which took the Republican convention to Hutchinson. # RECEIVER'S REPORT -OF THE- # MIDLAND BANK, APRIL 5, 1898. To Hon. Francis C. Price, Judge of the District Court in and for Ford County, State of Kansas: In compliance with the order of the Court, I herewith submit my report as Receiver of the Midland Bank.
