Decision Affirmed. A press telegram from Washington, dated the 25th, stated that the Supreme Court of the United States has affirmed the decision of the Supreme Court of Arizona in the case of L. L. Lewis and R. Allen Lewis VS. Fred Herrera, Receiver of the defunct International Bank in Nogales. As explained by Mr. Herrera to THE OASIS this is a final victory for the creditors of the bank in the litigation against General Lewis. It will be recollected that the bank was awarded a judgment against General Lewis several years ago. Upon that judgment, as explained by Mr. Herrera, an execution was issued against certain property of General and Mrs. Lewis in the city of Phoenix. Sale of the property under the execution was enjoined. Upon final hearing the injunction was dissolved. From the order of dissolution General and Mrs. Lewis appealed to the supreme court of the territory, which sustained the dissolution. From that decision the case was carried to the Supreme Court of the United States, and the judgment of that court, rendered Tuesday, affirms the decision of the territorial courts. The effect of this will be that when the remittitur from the Supreme Court at Washington comes down through the territorial supreme court, the execution will be stayed no longer and unless the judgment is settled the sheriff of Maricopa county can proceed to advertise and sell the property to satisfy the judgment. It will be several months likely, before all that is brought about. But when it does come the receiver will have a bit of money.

The Holbrook argus predicts that before the people of this territory celebrate the next anniversary of Washington's birth the star of Arizona will have found a place on Old Glory. Has the Argus received an advance tip from Governor Kibbey? Treasurer Gains of Cochise county has entirely recovered from an attack of typhoid fever and is again in his office at Tombstone. Quite naturally the Safford Journal is clamoring for pure mountain water and plenty of it—the editor is a minister of the Baptist persuasion. A carnation farm and rose garden are among the certainties for Tucson and then will follow the annual floral fiesta. The United States supreme court has affirmed, with costs, the decision in the appeal from the supreme court of Arizona in the case of R. Allyn Lewis and L. M. Lewis against Fred Herara, receiver for the International bank at Nogales. Tucson is to have a run of "summer vaudeville," which doesn't necessarily mean that soubrette skirts will be any more abbreviated than in the winter time. Everybody's drug store at Mesa was entered by burglars and about $30 was taken from the cash drawer. Entrance was gained through a rear window, which was opened by the aid of a jimmy. One hundred and sixty acres of Yuma county lands—unimproved—sold the other day for $6,000 spot cash. Tucson is soon to have a market place to take care of the products of 250 acres of small garden farms close to that city. Tucson planted ten thousand trees last year. That is the method probably adopted by Tucson to place other Arizona cities in the shade. Secretary Ely has taken a fall from J. C. Adams of Phoenix for taking a trip over the state and talking politics and ribbing up forces antagonistic to

sence the business in Nogales will be conducted by his brother in law Mr. Jos E. Teeter. The popular El Paso store has on sale a large line of high class goods at low class prices. See the beautiful windows at El Pase store. All the week Colonel Bird of THE OASIS has been very ill with the grip, but has had to keep about to attend his duties as clerk of the district court. As soon as the court adjourns, today, he will go to bed and remain there awhile. Tomorrow morning Judge Nave will go to Tucson, where he will hold court for Judge Campbell next week. From the bench yesterday Judgo Nave announced that in all probability the Ootober term of the district court in Santa Cruz county will be held by Chief Justice Kent. Saturday last Mr. Luis Proto returned from the Cocospera ranche, where he went last week to attend the shipment of a bunch of beef steers to Bisbee. The Cocospera has sold to Mr. J E. Wise of Calabasas, 600 to 800 head, for delivery at the line at Nogales, and the delivery was made yesterday. Mr. Carlos Luken, of Hermosillo and the Hacienda La Labor, on the San Miguel river, was at Nogales last week returning home Sunday morning. Several years ago it was the good fortune of THE OASIS editor to be a guest at La Labor, and enjoy the princely hospitality of Mr. Luken. Thursday the injunction case against the board of supervisors and Doctor A. C. Kingsley, over the county physician matter, which had been argued Monday and taken under advisement, came to a sudden termination by dismissal of the case and dissolution of the injunction. Judge Nave, quoting the law, held that the proceedings should have been instituted by writ of certiorari, instead of by writ of injunction. Messrs. Mads Sorensen of Houston, Texas, J. E. Cathey of Channing, and Doctor W. R. Robertson of El Paso, were at Nogales Saturday night, returning home from it business visit in Sonora. While at the line city the three gentlemen organized the International Development & Brokerage Company, the Articles of Incorporation for which are published in THE OASIS this week. The work was done through The Oasis Incorporating Bureau. Wednesday Mr. S. M. Franklin, attorney for Fred Herrera. receiver for the International Bank in Nogales, filed in the district court a satisfaction of judgment in the case

= Roy & Titcomb are building for the Silla Mining Company, operating in the state of Sinaloa, a five e stamp mill and cyanide plant. The machinery has been completed this week, and Thursday it was shipped to Mazatlan. Thence it will go to its destination, and will be installed. Thursday morning Mrs. Charles L. Fowler went to La Colorada to visit with Mr. Fowler a couple of weeks, that gentleman being at La Colorada on business, having arrived from beyond the Yaqui river Wednesday evening. The lady will remain at the great gold camp a couple of weeks. Yesterday there were at Nogales Messrs. L. H. Wilson of New York, who is operating in the vicinity of Alamos, where he has been sojourning the past six months, and R. M. Morris of Magdalena, who are going East together. The two gentlemen were at Nogales all day, and this morning they continued their journey. Yesterday Mr. W. H. Barnett of Patagonia, general manager for the Happy Jack Mining Company was in Nogales. The gentleman stated that he has just made a shipment of high grade ore-the sixth carload from that property. Monday he will start for the East to close negotiations that will result in work on the Happy Jack on an extensive scale. Wednesday evening there arrived from Caborca Doctor and Mrs. H. W. Kelty. They are stopping for the present at the Modern hotel on the Sonora side of the line, and they expect to remain in the line city all summer; and it is possible that Doctor Kelty will take up the practice of medicine and with his family become permanent residents of Nogales. For some time the doctor conducted the Red Cross hospital in Hermosillo. Monday morning Mr. Arthur S. Hyman and family start for San Francisco, where Mr. Hyman has been offered a fine opening in a business way. During his stay in Nogales Mr. Hyman made many warm personal friends, and in the management of the Boston Store he has demonstrated himself a first-class, active, progressive business man; while in his interest in base bail and other sports the gentleman has shown himself public spirited and energetic in the highest degree. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hyman will be missed greatly in the line city. Elsewhere in THE OASIS this week there appears a notice by Receiver Fred Herrera of the defunct International Bank in Nogales, announcing the payment of a dividend of six and one-half per cent, and printed notices with blank receipts affixed for their signatures have been sent to all the individual depositors, upon return of which signed properly the received will formand the
