President Gone, State Takes Over Bank At Grayson Special to The News. ATLANTA, Ga., June 10.β€”The state banking department has taken over the affairs of the Bank of Grayson, at Grayson, Ga., following a run on the bank caused by the disappearance of W. T. Roberts, president of the institution, and a request to the Atlanta police by his relatives for aid in locating him. T. R. Bennet state superintendent of banks, has announced that the bank has been closed temporarily and that auditors are engaged at work on the books. The audit will be completed in about a month or six weeks. The bank was capitalized at $40,000 and has a surplus of $10,000, according to the banking department's records. According to word reaching here, Roberts, who had been president of the bank for three years has been succeeded by A. W. Webb, who was elected last Friday after Roberts had been missing for two days. The missing ex-president, it is said, told his wife last Tuesday (a legal holiday) that he was going to Atlanta and would return in the evening. When he failed to show up Wednesday, police aid was requested but nothing has been heard from Roberts. New York's first mayor was a New Englander who originally had come from England.
