A RUN ON A BANK. The State Institution at Orlando Weathers a Local Panic. Orlando, Fla., Feb. 3.-A. run started on the state bank of this place immediately upon opening the doors this morning, and kept up until shortly before 12 o'clock, at which hour the last of the timid ones seemed to have drawn out their balances or satisfied themselves that there was no occasion for the stampede. During the run several prominent men made large deposits, thus demonstrating their faith in the institution. Long before the close of business the excitement abated and all was serene. L. C. Massey, president of the bank, was notified yesterday of the proposed run, but did not deem it necessary to take any steps to increase the volume of funds, as he felt they were substantially fortified for the emergency. During the run he stated that the bank could stand the pressure for a week, If necessary. His confidence and the confidence of those who made large deposits during the run had the effect of quieting the timid ones. The day's business, so far as deposits go, has been one of the best of the entire winter. It is believed that this run will have the effect of strengthening the confidence of the people in the bank.

A SOLID BANK. The Cause of the Run Upon It to Be Inquired Into. Orlando, Fla., Feb. 4.-The run upon the State Bank is over and excitement has all subsided. If the matter was an attempt on the part of designing men to embarrass the bank it was a failure. The only result was to draw friends to the bank, who are ready and willing to come up with substantial support, if it is needed. This will not be necessary, however, as the bank has demonstrated its solidity and its ability to weather the storm. Those who drew out their balances yesterday are re-depositing the money to-day, and all seem to feel a greater confidence in the bank than before. The cause of this panic will be inquired into, and all of the facts will be brought to light sooner or later.
