DEERING RETURNS HOME. Woodbury & Moulton's Cashier Comes Back But Will Not Talk of His Absence. Portland, Me., Dec. 21.-Edward P. Deering, formerly cashier for Woodbury & Moulton, the banking concern in this city, which assigned, Nov. 1, and who disappeared the next day after the assignment, returned home. tonight. He refuses to say where he has been or to discuss the affairs of the bank. He says he came home to see his family. So far as is known, Deering's whereabouts have not been known to the members of his family or former employes since he went away. Deering purchased a seat in the Pullman car at Boston and shortly afterward, Edward H. York, the junior member of the bankrupt banking firm, entered and took a seat beside him. Both gentlemen, however, claimed that the meeting was entirely accidental.
