Sell Packing Industry Monroe George, local manufacturer, purchased the W. C. Routh & Co. Packing plant at the sale conducted today by the First National Bank, receiver, at the bank headquarters. The successful bid of $28,505 was placed through the law firm of Jenkines & Jenkines, representing Mr. George. who was also present in person as the deal was closed. James I. Barnes was the only other bidder. He was represented by his attorney. John Brookmeyer. bank president. and Frank McHale, attorney, appeared for the receiver. Mr. George stated this afternoon that he would take over the Ice manufacturing industry of the packing plant and operate it as needed enlargement to the Logans. port Artificial Ice and Coal company of which he is secretarytreasurer and general manager. He further declared that negotiations would be closed soon with one of the packing concerns seek. ing to operate the packing industry. Mr. George has been in touch with these firms for the last several months with the view that he would secure the property. Having awarded the plant to the local man, who made ten per cent cash deposit (with the bid, the receiver will present the matter) to the Cass circuit court for approval. With the court approving the sale the receiver will be tmpowered to issue deed to the property and plant. Cash for the remainder the purchase price is to be paid upon the delivery of the deed.
