Miller Arrested In Rogers Bank Case Charged With Accepting Deposits in Defunct Farmers State Bank While Knowing Institution To Be Insolvent. Finis E. Miller, former. cashier of the defunct Farmers State was arrected Saturday on charge of accepting deposits in the bank, when it is leged he knew the institution to be insolvent. The arrest was made Sherby Iff Edgar Fields, and Miller's bond was set at $750. Mr. Fields could not say who the were. Miller's arrest was brought about by an affidavit filed by W. Rogers, who alleged he deposited the sum, of $78.08 in the Farmers State bank on October 22, the day before the bank suspended business. In his affidavit, Mr. Rogers alleged that the deposit was accepted "knowing the Farmers State bank was insolvent at the time." The warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace M. Shaddox. An inventory of the bank's affairs was started Friday morning by Daugherty, state bank examiner, and was expected to be completed late Monday. The state banking department has not yet appointed liquidating agent, but It is probable that one will be named as soon the preliminary check has been Daily News, Oct. 26.

FUNERAL HELD FOR ARKANSAS BANK RECEIVER Special to The News Herald Rogers, Ark., July Funeral services for Finis E. Miller, 45 years old, widely known Rogers business man, who died at 3 o'clock Saturday morning at his home here, were conducted yesterday afternoon at Presbyterian church, with a Christian Science reader in charge. Masonic burial services were conducted at the grave in Rogers cemetery. Mr. Miller, son of the late A. W. Miller. first Rogers merchant. and youngest of the seven Miller brothers. suffered stroke of paralysis a week ago. Extreme heat in southern Arkansas where for several months he had been engaged as receiver in the liquidation of defunct banks. was believed to have caused the stroke. High Masonic Officer. Active in Masonic lodges for many years, Mr. Miller served last year as grand commander of the Knights Templar of Arkansas. At his death he was deputy grand master of the grand lodge of Arkansas, A. F & A. M. He was a past president of the Rogers Community Club and the Kiwanis Club, and was recognized as a leader in movements for good roads in northwest Arkansas Educated at the Rogers academy. Mr. Miller married Miss Lizzie Hawkins twenty-two years ago. He began work as an express agent here. For many years he was cashier of the Farmers' State bank, serving at that institution until it closed last year. He became receiver for a bank at Osceola, Ark., and several other smaller banks in that section about six months ago. Surviving are his widow, sister, Miss Maud Miller, and six brothers. Horton, Arthur and Horace Miller of Rogers, Hugh Miller of Sand Springs, Okla., John Miller of Berkeley. Calif., and Claude Miller of Monett. Mo. W. C. T. U. Meeting Postponed. The Duenweg W C. T. U. will meet at 2 o'clock Thursday after noon at the Methodist Episcopal church. The meeting previously was scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
