W. VA. RECEIVER Is Asked to Take Charge of Ohio Bankrupt Banker's Property in This State. PARKERSBURG, W. Va., Feb. T.An application for the appointment of an auxiliary receiver in this dis trict in the case of John S. Howard. in bankruptcy, was filed in the United States Court here this afternoon by James J. Thomas, receiver, and T. J. Abertnathy, his attorney, of Columbus, O. Howard is a Gallipolis, O., banker, whose bankruptcy caused the Farmers' & Merchants' Bank of Gallipolis, O., and two other Ohio banks to close their doors recently. The auxiliary receiver is wanted in this district because Howard is alleged to have valuable hotel property at Clarksburg, W. Va., which the creditors want con ducted for their benefit. The petition will be referred to Judge Dayton, who is now on the bench of the Circuit Court of Appeals at Richmond. Va.
