A List of Failures. LOUISVILLE, March 28.-The grand jury will investigate the failure of Schwartz & Co., bankers, and It is said criminal prosecution will follow. The assets now turn out to be nothing. TOLEDO, O., March 23.-The sheriff today attached the old Chamber of Commerce building, formerly occupied by the Produce Exchange, on a petition for judgment on a note of $100,000 and foreclosure of the mortgage securing the note, which was filed by the Pennsylvania Mutual Insurance Company against John B. Carson and the administrators and heirs of J. A. Gamble, deceased. George Beckwith was appointed receiver. YORK, Pa., March 23. - Michael Schall and James H. Donner, trading as Schall & Donner, bankers, assigned. The liabilities and assets cannot be ascertained; but it is a complete failure, the liabilities far exceeding the assets. NEW YORK, March 23.-Schwab Bros., manufacturers of cloaks and jerseys, Green Street, confessed judgments aggregating $57,031. Their attorneys place the liabilities at $250,000, with assets sufficient to cover, if time is allowed. BERLIN, Wis., March 28.-C. A. Mather, of the defunct banking firm of C. A., Mather & Co., has been arrested, charged with receiving deposits when he knew the bank was insolvent. He was placed under bonds of $1000 until March S1st.
