JUST A BAD CASE OF BLUES A bad case of the blues, either individually or in a community, frequently proves tragic. Often individuals who have the blues, probably with no real reason for worry, and if they had worry would only do harm, end it all by the suicide route. Sometimes whole communities get the blues and then commit financial suicide. It looks like just a community case of blues caused a case of financial suicide at New Bloomfield. Considering the handicap under which it started the new bank seems to have been making nice progress and would soon have saved the depositors and stockholders and been of great benefit to the community. The burning of the school house caused some people to have the blues and their imagination made them uneasy and restless. They drew out their deposits in the bank and the infection or blues contagion spread until others followed their example, making a run which the bank could not meet and which wrecks frequently even the strongest financial institutions. So just because they had the bles a financial institution is wrecked and the community generally is injured by its own hand.
