RUN ON A BANK. Result of Scare Over Condition of Another Bank. Mount Vernon, N. Y., Jan. 15.-A "run" begun, yesterday, in the East Chester Savings Bank here was continued. today. All claims were promptly paid. The officials say they have ample funds and are ready to meet all demands. The "run" resulted from a mistake of numerous small depositors, many of them ignorant Italians. They seem to have confused the East Chester Savings Bank with the bank of Mount Vernon, 8 state bank. The former is a tenant of the latter and has offices in the same building. When a new management tock charge of the Bank of Mount Vernon recently it announced that 2 per cent. would be paid on deposits. The small depositors of the savings bank seemed to have got an idea that this would affect them. Then also recently on application of James I. Reynolds, Justice Gaynor of the supreme court granted an order that the Bank of Mount Vernon show cause why its affairs should not be examined by a referee. Reynolds alleges mismanagement.
