SPRINGFIELD III., March 10.-The directors of the State Bank of Elkhart, which closed its doors last Monday by reason of an alleged shortage of $32,000 in the accounts of Cashier Frank W. Cottle, who committed suicide on Wednesday by blowing out his brains with a revolver, met to-day and decided not to reorganize the bank, and filed a petition in the Logan county Circuit Court at Elkhart asking Judge Myers to appoint former County Judge Schwartgerfger, now cashier of the German National Bank, as receiver.

Receiver Appointed. Lincoln, Ill., March 11. - Acting upon the recommendation of State Auditor McCullough and Attorney General Hamlin in the circuit court, Judge Myers appointed L. C. Schweidtferger, cashier of the German American national bank of this city, in a bond of $200,000, receiver of the State Bank of Elkhart, which failed a week ago with a shortage of more than $32,000.
