County News. MONTESANO. From Local Papers. A bouncing boy arrived Friday morning to make things pleasant and interesting in the family of G. M. Cochran. C. B. Morgan was down from the fish hatchery yesterday. He says not the slightest clue has been discovered of the missing John Craig. Receiver Bignold realized about $1,000 last Saturday from the sale of the remaining assets of the Bank of Montesano. There were some great bargains offered. A. B. Holloway arrived home last Sunday from a business trip to Idaho. He made most of the journey on a bicycle, SO had a splendid chance to see the country. He returns with more faith than ever in western Washington, and says he would not trade one acre of Chehalis county land for ten in the eastern part of the state. Mr. Merrill, of the well known Michigan lumber firm of Merrill & Ring, was in the city last Saturday. He is enthusiastic over the lumber prospects of the state of Washington. There will be an immense amount of eastern capital put into the business in the next few years, and with the completion of the Nicaragna canal, which he says will surely be built soon, Mr. Merrill declares that this state will enjoy a great degree of prosperity. Mr. Merrill will move to Washington at once.
