Monday, July 7. Gouldberg & Anderson's saw mul at Cambridge burned. Loss about $5,000, partially insured. The old Bank of St. James, M. K. Armstrong president, established in 1878, capital $150,000, has closed its doors. Application was made to Judge Searle for an order to compel the receiver of the Little Falls Gas company to sell the works. The first steamer launched at Red Wing is the Myrl Spaulding, and is one of eighty tons. H. Darling will be master and pilot and S. E. Hemphill engineer. The village of Caledonia entered into contract with A. Turner of Waukon, Iowa, and L. O. Palmer of Caledonia to put in a water works plant for $7,650. The work is to begin immediately. The merchants of St. Cloud held a meeting and formulated an address to customers, stating that on account of the new credit rules of wholesalers, they were obliged to curtail all credit and come to practically a cash basis. It will be quite strictly enforced.
