LAST BANK IN RUPERT CLOSES Suspension of Rupert National Leaves City Without Institution. With the published statement that "this bank is closed on account of a lack of confidence of the community," the Rupert National bank, the sole remaining bank in the city, closed its doors at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. With the suspension of business the surrounding rich farming territory is left without a single one of the original three financial institutions operating here. A steady withdrawal of funds by skeptical depositors followed the closing of the First National bank here thre weeks ago. Ninety days ago the Farmers' and Merchants' bank a state institution, closed its doors.

RUPERT NOW HAS TWO NEW BANKS Outside Capital Quick to Invest in Minidoka Town. Indicating a quick restoration of public confidence, two new banks have opened at Rupert within the past 10 days to take the place of the two institutions which because of stringent circumstances, closed their doors several weeks ago. The Rupert National bank reopened Monday morning of last week. Preparations were made to pay in currency every anticipated withdrawal of deposit, but when the closing hour came the day's business showed an increase of $21,000 in deposits over the withdrawals. There was also $10,000 more currency in the bank than when the doors opened in the morning. The Rupert National bank opened with Crawford Moore of Boise as president. He, as well as the other officers, are also the officials of the First National Bank of Idaho, the largest bank in the state. The Rupert Commercial and Savings bank, which opened in Rupert this week. includes in its official personnel John C. Lundy, Sherman Armstrong, of the National Copper bank of Salt Lake; E. W. Tucker, of the Pacific Northwest bank of Boise, J. E. Muffley, a director in a dozen banks in Idaho, A. L. Heine, and D. P. Hoggs, of Boise. These banks, it is said, will be among the strongest in Southern Idaho.
