J. L. Thornton, the Swing man of Jerico Springs was in town Saturday seeing after the automatic pipe organ for his merry-go-round, which he had shipped to this place last week from Leavenworth, Kansas, to have it repaired and cleaned by J. R. Patterson, getting ready for this season's run. The Peoples Bank at Browning, Mo., in Linn County, failed May 1st. It had deposits of about $150,000, a capital of $30,000 and surplus $17,000. Monday, May 5th, the Bank of Bronough, in Vernon County failed. Nothing is known as to its deposits. Both of these banks are in extra good farming sections of the state, and have been very prosperous under usual conditions.
