Wapello Lions to Elect Officers Wapello The regular meeting of the Lions club was held Wednesday at the noon hour with twenty in attendance. The luncheon was served by the management at the Capitol cafe. A nominating committee, with E. C. Ohlwein as chairman, was chosen to report officers for the coming year at the next meeting Robert Davie, county agent, gave talk on what Farm Bureau has done throughout the county the past year. Fritz Schmitt, superintendent of the Central Construction company who have the contract of the paving project on No. 61, was a special guest and gave a talk. A committee was appointed to make arrangements for cashing checks for the laborers on the project. Other News. The regular social afternoon of the Daughters of Veterans was held Wednesday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Ed Hicklin, which was featured as a farewell courtesy to Mrs. Fred Schwob. A program the birth anniversary of Grant, and Iowa history was enjoyed followed by Judge James Smyth. has ordered a fina] dividend of 6.22 per cent to be paid to the depositors of the Wapello State Savings bank, and that the receiver L. A. Andrews be discharged Mrs. Oliver Castle and daughter of Chicago, III., is here for visit with her mother, Mrs. Blanche Pantel and other relatives. Mrs. A. J. Williamson entertained the members of the Thursday club at an all day quilting Thursday. There were eight members in attendance and a number of the children were included at the dinner at noon. Miss Erma Snow of Des Moines, former teacher in the local high school, is a guest of the Parish families. Mrs. O. B. Jamison, who celebrated her seventy-first birthday Sunday, was the guest of honor at a family dinner in her home. The following children and grandchildren were present: Chester Jamison and son Winfield, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Wagg and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dow McKinney and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. George Jamison and son.
