Dr. J. A. Weed, the physician who was arrested at Davenport on a charge of murder in the second degree, was airested a second time charged with criminal malpractice and perjury. Bail was fixed at $15,000, and he went to jail in default. Austin Sings, arrested at Blooming. ton, Ills., was taken to Boone, Ia., to answer a charge of forgery. He is in jail in default of bail. George Miner, a Burlington brakeman, died at Knoxville, Ia., of injuries inflicted by a tramp who was put off the train. Register Evens, of the United States land office at Des Moinea,has fixed the date of the opening of 21,000 acres of land in O'Brien county for Feb. 27. Next season's state meet of the League of American Wheelmen will be held at Cedar Rapids. A family named Bergman, residing in Dubuque, has been notified that they are heirs to an estate in Australia worth $1,000,000. John Rhamey, in an altercation, shot and killed Ed Relford, in Keokuk township near Ottumwa. Rhamey surrendered himself. Receiver Dunlap has distributed $10,000 more to the depositors of the broken Northwestern State bank of Sibley. The bank's assets will finally realize about 70 per cent.
