Humboldt State bank, fifty old, the oldest bank in Humboldt county. failed to open its doors Monday morning. following the withdrawal of deposits for several days, since the closing of nineteen banks in adjoining counties T. Briggs. cashier; Cecil Leland, assist. ant cashier This is the second bank to close here this year. the Peoples State bank closed in June, owing to failure having the charter renewed, which had expired. One bank remains open in the city, the First National, with E. Wilder president. Fearing run on the bank this morning, the organi. zation prepared for large number of depositors who withdrew their deposits today. The First Na. tional bank has been considered the strongest the county for some time, having never failed to pay dividends message given out this morning said it had expected the run on the bank. and was in better position than ever to handle the situation.
