OGLESBEE'S SUCCESSOR IS ANNOUNCED / Lawrence A. Wiles Head of State Bank Department-Experienced in Business. Lawrence A. Wiles, of Goodland, was Friday appointed head of the bank deparment in the State Auditor's office by Mr. Billheimer, State Auditor. The appointment fills the vacancy caused by the death of R. B. Oglesbee, who had held the position for one year. Mr. Wiles has had twenty years' experience in the banking business, and the fact that a few months ago he was cashier of a private bank at Goodland which was thrown into the hands of a receiver by the State Auditor, is in great measure responsible for his appointment to the present position. Mr. Wiles was cashier of the Goodland Bank, at Goodland, owned by Baldwin & Dague. Mr. Billheimer last fall began an invesitigation of this bank, and as a result it, with others owned by the same men, was thrown into the hands of receivers. Incidentally, in his investigation of the Goodland bank, Mr. Billheimer's attention was attracted to the work of Mr. Wiles, the cashier, He noticed that Mr. Wiles's books were straight and that to all appearances his service with the bank had been above reproach. After the death of Mr. Oglesbee, when the Auditor began to look around for a man for the place, he recalled his investigation of Mr. Wiles's work and immediately tendered the position to him. Mr. Wiles accepted, and began his duties at once.
