ARKANSAS BANKS CLOSE. LITTLE ROCK, Ark., June state banks, the Union Bank and Trust Company at Batesville, and the Dairymen's Bank at Carlisle, failed to open for business today. SHOT SEVEN TIMES. June CHICAGO, laid by four gunmen, Herman Carcelli, municipal court bailiff, was shot and killed Tuesday. Carcelli was shot seven times.

L. GATZ HAS BEEN APPOINTED BANK RECEIVER Announcement was received yester. day afternoon by W. L. Gatz of this city, that he had been appointed as liquidating agent for the Union Bank & Trust Company of Batesville, by State Bank Commissioner Taylor. The bank closed its doors about week Mr. Gatz with the Jonesboro Trust Company of this city for a number of years prior to engaging in the insurance business, and is thoroughly familiar with the banking business. He announced this morning that he would drive over this afterooon and begin his duties as receiver.
