RUMOR CAUSED A RUN ON AN ELWOOD BANK All Demands Promptly Met and Confidence Was Restored Before the Closing Hour. Special to the Indianapolis Journal. ELWOOD, Ind., Feb. 5.-A run on the Citizens' Exchange Bank, a private institution, was started yesterday, after the circulation of rumors among the foreign working population, and persisted for a time to-day, but all demands were promptly met, and by this afternoon confidence seemed fully restored. Workmen at the tin plate factory, most of them foreigners, were the first to withdraw their deposits, followed to-day by farmers and others whose accounts were small. The business element generally has stood by the bank, many of them making deposits this morning in the face of the run, while the local banks assisted materially in checking the feeling of unrest. H. C. Callaway is president and G. W. Brier cashier. It is one of the oldest banks in the county.
