Another Jacksonville Bank Fails to Open (By Associated Press.) JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 17.-The First Germania State bank, one of the smallest banks of Jacksonville, did not open its doors today. "Closed by order of the board of directors," was all that appeared on a notice which was posted on the door of the bank early this morning. The last statement of the condition of the bank, made to the state comptroller on December 30, 1916, showed that it carried deposits amounting to $201,703.02. Its total resources were given as $280,578.04. In anticipation of a run today the Live Oak Citizens State bank did not open this morning. The comptroller was advised last night of the decision of directors and he has taken charge. The general opposition was that the Live Oak Citizens bank was in a way connected with the Heard National bank of Jacksonville. Efforts are being made by the stockholders to refinance and reopen the bank tomorrow morning.
