Tobacco Notes. F. S. Baines of Janesville was a caller in this market Wednesday. E. C. Tallard is running a small force of assorters in No. 20, putting up a few lots of bundle goods. Henry Price left last week for Gays Mill where he has the contract for erecting a tobacco warehouse for O. R. Pomeroy. McIntosh Bros. are replacing the supporting piers and laying a cement floor in their warehouse, which will involve quite an expense. Will McIntosh was called to Janesville yesterday to act as one of the arbitrators in the settlement of the insurance loss upon L. B. Carle's tobacco. After a sorting season of nearly six months, the warehouse of Andrew Jenson closed operations on Friday last. The packings are the largest put up by him for several years. The tobacco warehouse at this place closed after a run of four months. Considering the season the output has been quite as large as previous years, upwards of 1600 cases having been packed. Tobacco sorting is a great industry and generally furnishes employment at a season of the year when there is no other work. We understand that Mr. Earle has paid out for help this season an average of $325 a week.-Readstown Herald. NOTICE OF SALE.
