San Francisco Carpet Agent Insolvent. San Francisco, Feb. 4.-Howard D. Thomas & Company of this city, manufacturers' agents, handling carpets and matting, have petitioned the United States district court to be adjudged bankrupts. They have scheduled liabilities amounting to $33,963 with only $109 assetss. The creditors are mostly carpet houses of eastern cities for goods furnished. The firm was represented here by Howard D. Thomas, Jr., whose home was formerly in Tacoma, Wash., where he met with financial reverses. The schedule of property shows that 999 shares of Nasqually Coal company stock are held by Leonard Howarth, receiver of the Traders' bank of Taconia. as security for money borrowed by M. E. Thomas. the father, and that certain lots of land in Votawas addition to Tacoma are held by the Boston National bank of Seattle, Wash., for money loaned to Thomas and his son.
