WASHINGTON 1 SOMERVILLE, Wash., Nov. 22.-A1though the council has appropriated $5000 with which to remove the isolation hospital, now located on Beacon hill, the city officials are unable to find a new location. and have appealed to the medical fraternity for help. It seems impossible to find a site to which there is not objection. VAN ASSELT-Thieves entered the Van Asselt mercantile store, conducted by John Olson, and carried off gloves and underclothes. GEORGETOWN - Mountain beavers have got into mischief here and ruined many private lawns, as well as the large, well kept one surrounding the county hospital. In a single night they will sink a deep hole into the center of the yard, piling the dirt outside more than a foot high. KALAMA-Owing to the suspension of the Merchants' National bank at Portland, of which institution it was a correspondent, the Cowlitz County bank at this place has closed its doors. Cashier J. P. Atkins announced that the bank was perfectly solvent, but that owing to the suspension of the Portland bank they were unable to realize on some of their securities, and in order to avoid a run at such an inopportune time decided to close their doors temporarily. WALLA WALLA-Arrangements have been completed for a triangular debating league between Whitman college, Willamette university and Pacific university. The teams will follow the method used in the Oregon-Washington-Idaho league, each team debating both the other schools on the same night on different sides of the question. The last Friday in February has been chosen for the date.
