CLOSED BANKS DODGE TAXES Property Is Exempt, State Rules, From Levies OLYMPIA, March Bank receivers are exempt from paying personal or property taxes on holdings under their supervision, Assistant Attorney General John W. Hanna said today in letter to Spencer Short Prosecuting attorney of Kittitas county. Hanna held the receiver for the National Bank of Ellensburg could not be held to pay either delinquent or current taxes assessed and levied on stockholders or on personal property in his hands as such "Such tax would be tax on the assets of the bank, which belong the bank's creditors," Hanna said.
