General Committee Meeting. The General Committee met in the Armory Club room Saturday evening after the ladies had held their meeting. It was announced that George Lamson with seven assistants would have charge of the gate. Mr. Howland, cashier of the National Bank, announced that that institution had voted to close its doors on Sept. 7th. H. A. Rugg, chairman of the transportation committee announced that all the arrangements were completed for the transportation of the bands and the Militia companies. Special trains will run from the quarries leaving East Barro at 9 o'clock a. m. and Langdon's at 9,20, returning to the Hill at 5 p. m. Communications were read from the following societies The Barre branch of the Granite Cutters National Union, which has voted to observe Wednesday Sept. 7th as Labor Day. They will not join in the parade as an organization on account of SO many of the men belonging to other orders that have voted to take part; Green Mountain Council No. 9 Junior I. O. U. A. M. who have vot d to attend and hope to have at least fifty men in line. Several votes were taken as to what amount should be charged various persons who wished to have amusements on the ground and some other routine business was transacted after which the committee voted to adjourn till 7:30 o'clock Tuesday evening.
