VIRGINIA NEWS. The Norfolk Trust Company assigned to-day; liabilities $15,000. The Presbyterians of Charlottesville will erect a new church to cost $25,000. Ex-Postmaster W. W. Degge and family have left Norfolk to take up their permanent residence in the West. The democratic primary in Danville yesterday resulted in the nomination of Joseph B. Anderson for commissioner of the revenue. It is said that Major Green Peyton, who has been proctor of the University of Virginia many years, will resign the office on account of ill health. For the twenty-four hours from noon Wednesday to noon yesterday Newport News corn exports broke all records, 694,000 bushels having been cleared for European ports. Mitchell Stallard and a Miss Quillin, the latter a handsome young lady of Scott county, eloped to Bristol yesterday, having planned to be married and leave for Texas. Officers thwarted the young couple's plans by arresting Stallard on a charge of shooting a man at Coeburn recently. His intended bride was sent back to her parents.
