Alexandria, Va., May 20.-The Retail Merchants' Association of the State of Virginia before adjourn: ing this afternoon selected Newport News as the city for the next annual convention and elected officers as follows: W. Clarke, jr., Richmond. secretary. f Directors were elected as follows: Raphael Levy, Richmond; R. S. Gray, Richmond: H. Carl Boschen, Richmond. J. H. Brownley, Norfolk: David Pender, Norfolk; Mosby Ryland, Lynchburg: Edward Eigenbrun, Petersburg: C. S. Kaufman, Hampt ton. M. Umstader. of Norfolk, was elected president emeritus of the association. $ Owing to the press of business the trips planned for Mount Vernon and Arlington had tb be abandoned. Most of the delegates left at 4 o'clock this afternoon for their homes. Depositors of the defunct Virginia Safe Deposit and Trust Corporation will receive a final dividend of approximately 1 per cent shortly. A decree directing Howard W. Smith, receiver of the concern, to pay this dividend has just been entered in the Corporation Court by Judge L. C. Barley. This concern failed in 1910 and this will make. a total of 44 per cent the depositors have received. The Medical Society for Northern : Virginia and the District of Columbia held its annual meeting yesterday afternoon in the Young People's building when the following officers t were elected for the year: Dr. George Tully Vaughan, president: Dr. Arthur Hoole, vice president: Dr. William F. Davis, recording sec1 retary: Dr. Joseph D. Rogers. corresponding secretary; Dr. Robert S. Lamb. treasurer. Papers were read by the following: Dr. James A. Gannon, Washington: Dr. Harry H. Kerr. Moore, Alexandria: Dr. Philip S. Roy, Washington. It was decided to hold the next annual meeting in Washington. The ladies of the M. E. Church served luncheon at the conclusion of the meeting. Arrangements have been completed for a sacred concert which will be given at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Richmond Theater by St. Mary's Industrial Boys' Band, of Baltimore.
