ALEXANDRIA AFFAIRS GENERAL NEWS FROM NEARBY OLD DOMINION CITY. Special Correspondence of The Star. ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7, 1906. The whereabouts of William Cornelius Kidd, the seventeen-year-old son of J. M. Kidd of Alexandria, who is wanted for the murder of his uncle, M. S. Kidd, still remain a mystery to the members of the Alexandria police and his family. Attorney John M. Johnson, who has been retained by the father of the missing boy to conduct his defense. is endeavoring to locate his client, as it is his opinion that it will be the best thing for him to surrender to the police and let his case come to trial. It is thought the boy has gone to Lynchburg. as he has relatives in that city, and efforts are being made to locate him should he arrive there. United States Court Adjourns. In the United States court for the eastern district of Virginia, yesterday, with Judge Edmund Waddill presiding, an order was entered appointing R. H. Cox, sergeant of Alexandria, as the receiver in th case of the Alexandria National Bank against Willis C. Bates, and directing him to sell the property in question. Sergt. Cox entered into bond in the sum of $1,000. In the case of C. C. Cushing an order was issued. upon the petition of Charles King & Son. the National Bank of Manassas and C. L. Hyson, directing that he appear in court on July 16 to show cause why the prayer of the petitioners that he be adjudged an involuntary bankrupt should not be granted. The jury was then discharged, subject to the call of the marshal, and court adjourned for the term. Police Court Items. Andrew Lomax, colorel, appeared at the police station this morning and swore out a warrant for the arrest of James Fegan, whom he accused of having stabbed him over the left eye. Lomax exhibited a severe cut upon his forehead, which extended almost to his eye. Policeman Beach shortly after arrested Fegan. who stated that Lomax had been in his saloon and was very disorderly. He said the latter made some hostile demonstrations toward him and that he thereupon knocked him down and kicked him, but denied having stabbed him The case will be tried Monday morning. Isaiah Clark, Aaron Harris, James Johnson, John Washington, Edward Clark and Frederick Thomas, all colored, were arraigned in the police court this morning on the charge of gambling. The boys were arrested by Policemen Jones, Smith and Bettls. It was stated that Isalah Clark and Aaron Harris had given information to the police yesterday concerning a crap game, in which all the prisoners are alleged to have indulged, but when questioned this morning they denied all knowledge of the game. Clark and Harris were fined $2 each and the rest were dismissed. Christopher Devitt, arrested by Policeman Jones, was sent to jail for ten days on the charge of vagrancy. T. R. Dean was charged with disorderly conduct in a saloon run by Lee Lash. The proprietor testified that Dean had used threatening language toward him, but that he had not tried to put his threats ino execution. Dean was dismissed. General Matters. The following teachers have filed applications with the school board for positions in the Alexandria public schools; Miss V. Ada Grigg, for principal of Lee School for Girls, to succeed Mrs. Sallie Yates McDaniel, resigned; Miss Elizabeth W. King, H. W. Rinker, Miss N. G. Edwards, Miss Minnie Keys, Miss Bertie G. Epps and Miss Janie A. Carter. The following recently elected officers of James W. Jackson Council, No. 55, Junior Order of United American Mechanics, were installed Thursday night by Senior Past Councillor W. K. Grimth: Junior past councillor, George M.
