TUESDAY, MAY 5, 1931
By a four to one vote, following discussion which lasted until after midnight last night, the city council authorized the city attorney to file suit against the receiver of the Tooele County State Bank for the $26,000 of city funds held in the bank at the time of its closing. The claim for the money will be made on the same basis as the school board, who has now amended its complaint to charge that the money was deposited illegally. The city attorney was authorized to spend an extra $500 to secure additional legal help to fight the case. Councilman Shields voted against the suit, while Livers, McKenna, Morgan and Orme stood for the action
Supt. P. M Nielsen left this morning for visit to the Wendover and Ibapah schools. He plans to return tomorrow evening.
Tooele Central school will hold its annual school exhibit tomorrow and Thursday of this week in the Central school gymnasium. The exhibit will be on display from 9 1. m. until m. and from to in the evening Work from all grades and departments of the school will be on display as will the pictures which were purchased from funds raised at the art exhibit held earlier in the year. All parents and those interested in school work are cord. ially invited to visit the exhibit.
The American Legion, with Dr. T. M. Aldous as chairman, was given charge of the Memorial Day ex. ercises in this city by the city council last evening. An appropriation of $25 was made toward the day's expenses.

Sherman Lee was named president of the Tooele high school student body yesterday at the annual election. James Orme won the vice. presidency and Beth Atkin was voted in as secretary; Norman Anderson, cheer leader; and John D. Speirs, treasurer.

Manager John J. Gillette of the Strand theatre, who is also president of the intermountain states showman's association, left this morning for Idaho on official business for his organization.

Chris Chosos, who was arrested last week on the charge of stealing chickens from Mike Brunetti and Carlo Busico, was found guilty yesterday by Judge John C. Bryan, of the city court A thirty day jail sentence or a fine of $30 was im posed, with a five day stay of exe. cution. The two others charged with the same offense are asking for jury trials in the city court to. morrow.

Willard Peterson, local postman, who underwent an appendicitis operation at Salt Lake hospital Mon. "Jean Nedra" day is recovering rapidly.
In an address before the Lions club today Trade William L. Ware, of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, stated that Utah could sell from three to four times more produce in Los Angeles, if more care were exercised in grading and cleaning He cited figures showing that Los Angeles bought $10,984,183 worth of livestock, vegetables and dairy products from Utah in 1930, which was an increase of $4,484,960 over Mr. Ware is making a survey of Utah in the interest of better trade relationship between our state and his home city. He was highly de. lighted at the wonderful view from Lion's Lookout on Little Mountain "Nothing like it in the West," he reported to the Daily News. Tooele valley is ideally situated to take advantage of this great market, inasmuch as the only direct transcontinental railroad passes right thru this section.

Ray Anderson, of Grantsville, had his leg hurt when a rail fell will on him while at work on the Western Pacific railroad at Dell this morning. Another man, whose name we could not learn, was serjously injured in the same accident and rushed to Salt Lake City for hospital attention Mr. Anderson was brought to Tooele and given treatment by Dr. J. H. Peck.
The Tooele Seminary graduation exercises have been changed from the South ward church to the Tooele high school auditorium, in order to accomodate the expected crowd. The exercises will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clcok.
Fred Bryan, county auditor, extended his personal congratulations to Alex F. Dunn this morning winning the supreme court deci sion on the county report law Bryan and Dunn have disagreed over many things but still remain the closest of personal friends, and why not?

Tooele high school seniors, company with several teachers, are planning to attend high school day at the University of Utah tomor row. Wayne Hanks, Sherman Lee, Harold Ekman and Ernest Barlow will compete in the athletic events, having reached state standing in the regional meet.
