Description

The bank failed to open at the March 1933 banking holiday and remained closed; a receiver (J. Warren Lillard) was appointed 1933-11-15. Later (1934-05-17) the liquidating institution began paying depositors in full. OCR in local article was poor; I corrected obvious errors (e.g., CitiNational -> Citizens National). No evidence of a depositor run in the articles; suspension appears tied to the March 1933 banking holiday and subsequent receivership/liquidation.

Article Text

Hundreds of people were wearing smile a Monday morning when the Citizens National Bank of Llano, now a liquid institution, began paying off its depositors with checks worth exactly one hundred cents on the dollar. The distribution of this money amounting to between thirty and forty thousand dollars, will go a long way in reviving business conditions out here in the land of promise. Monday morning at the time these columns are being put into tpye, the indications for rain are exeeedingly favorable. However just at this time we are needing more than indications. The young corn crop as well as others, is calling for additional moisture and in the language of an old Llano county friend, We will need that moisture within the next fifteen minutes.'
