ITEMS OF LOCAL INTEREST. The 1891 fair of the S. W. Wis. I. A. is being largely attended and is a success. W.H. Peck and Frank Dyer, of Madison, are here greeting old-time friends The Democrat's special edition will be delivered to city subscribers on Friday morning. S.J. Wright and daughter, came over Wednesday from Milwaukee to attend the fair. The eleventh annual Industrial exposition will open in Milwaukee on Sept. I, lasting until Oct. 17.] Everybody is invited to attend the second Demorest Silver Medal contest on Wednesday evening, Sept. 9. The corner stone of Baraboo's Masonic Temple was laid with appropiate ceremonies on Thursday, August 27. The annual Harvest Home Services will be held at Trinity Church, on next Sunday morning, at 10:30 o'clock. The Sons of Veterans have elected Barlow S. Weeks, of New York, commander-in-chief. The next national encampment will be held at Helena, Mt. The second Demorest Medal contest will take place in the city hall on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, commenctng at 7:30 p. m. Admission 10 cents. Arrangements have been made to hold a re-union of the 44th Wisconsin Volunteer regiment in connection with the Dane county fair, at Madison, Sept. 9 and 10. The request from all parts of the state for trout fry is greater than the State Fish hatchery can attend to. During the season 7,000,000 trout fry have been sent out. C. Kirst, of the town of Mineral Point, will send three of his sons to our city schools during the coming year. He says that he believes in standing by the schools and giving his children a good education. The people of Crawford county are rejoicing over good crops. The Courier says: A number of farmers report to us the best wheat and oat yield they have had before in years, while the corn crop is equally promising. Mr. and Mrs. John McNeill and children, of Hampton, Iowa, are visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity. Mr. McNeill conducted a large farm near Hampton for a number of years past, from which he retired in order to give his children good school advantages. The family will remain here for a few weeks. The work of wiring the stores and other business places of Mineral Point for the electric lights is being carrried rapidly forward and will perhaps be completed this week. The poles and wires for street lights will then be put in, and it is more than probable that the electric plant will be in full operation about Oct. I. Bronson, Draper & Co., bankers at Mazomanie, have assigned in favor of their creditors. The assets are $47,000 and the liabilities are about $30,000. The bank heavily loaned money to the Mazomanie Mill company, which suffered great losses in wheat investments. Four creditors levied attachment's on the bank's proper... Saturdo and later.
