DEPOSITORS FIGHT FOR MONEY. Charges Against President Cause Run on Memphis Bank. Memphis, Aug. 14.-E. L. Hendrey, president of the Night and Day Bank, of Memphis, connected with a banking institution of Oklahoma City, is being searched for to-night on a warrant charging him with being a fugitive from Oklahoma. Publication of the fact that Hendrey was missing caused a run on the Night and Day Bank, and early to-night the doors were closed, with the announcement that the bank would reopen to-morrow morning. The specific charges against Hendrey in Oklahoma City were not stated in the dispatch asking his detention. At a late hour to-night he had not been located. Several hundred depositors were struggling for access to the paying teller's window, when announcement was made that the bank would be closed, and a squad of police had a busy quarter of an hour dispersing the crowd. The Night and Day Bank is a small institution, and was organized a year ago, with a capital stock of $32,250. At the time of its last statement, on July 1, resources and liabilities were balanced at $153,846.60. Deposits, representing the main assets, totalled $96,030.41. The liabilities included loans and discounts of $99,134.92. Hendrey was arrested to-night.
