Description

Chancery-court litigation and a receiver (Robt. Ewing) are repeatedly referenced (receiver's report confirmed, trustee/receiver v. Exchange & Deposit Bank). Properties of the bank were sold at chancery sale (sale date advertised April 22, 1882 and sale reported April 23, 1882). No newspaper text describes a depositor run; the bank was placed in receivership and its assets sold, consistent with a suspension followed by permanent closure/receivership. 'Bank type' is set to unknown because the name lacks a national/state/trust designation.
