Putnam County Banks Reported in Sound Condition Putnam three banks, two them Cookeville, complied with Gov. McAlister's holiday proclamation Wednesday and closed with an expression of confidence that business would be resumed as usual next Tuesday Officers of the First National and Citizens banks here shortly after receiving telegram from state of banks in which they declared their be solvent, with cause for fear on the part of any depositor. Cookeville merchants were taking checks, but usual first of the month collections were held up because of lack of ready cash and doubt as to the worthiness of checks until the holiday is over. small flurry noticeable in the city shortly word was here, but after realization that the holiday was protective measure all apprehension was relieved.
