Description

Newspaper calendar entries from December 1871 show a suit listing 'Lawrence F. Campbell, receiver, vs. Bank of Charleston', indicating the bank was in receivership. The articles do not mention any run or temporary suspension/reopening — only the presence of a receiver and litigation. I therefore classify this as a suspension leading to closure/receivership. 'State' bank chosen because the name lacks 'National' or 'Trust' and the bank dates to the 19th-century state-chartered era.
