ASHES-Pots are rather difficult to find to day at $5 5 25, the sales at price only reach about 40 bbls. Holders federally are firm at $5 871, at which, however, there has at been, we believe no salex. Pearls are not very firm $5.875, and not active. The sales to-day were only 50 bbls. Treamivals are quite large, some 300 bbls. The bills out boat 300. The second and third sorts are not in good enairy COTTON-The transactions to-day are ratker limited, or exceeding 500 bales. The market has strong tendency decline, and in some cases lower offers have been ac epted to-day than were refused on Saturday. Receivers reactions to sell. The market generally we do not quote leaves, but prices are in favor of the purchaser. We COD tinge fair Upland at 7g 73; fair New Orleans and Alaba FLOUR-There is a visible improvement in the market to-day, although there appears to be some difference of opinion to the extent of it. Many holders are asking $4 0 ter Genesse, and we hear of sales at 44. Ohio and Michigan are at 437, and we hear of 1900 bbls. two fair brands Ohio sold at that rate. All lots offering at 4 374 it is reported have been taken. Probably the cold weather we have had for a day or two and the fears of an early closing of the canal, have produced this advance. GRAIN-There does not appear to be much demand for Wheat, and the few samples offering remain unsold. Corn splenty, and the rates still tend downward. We notice sales 2500 New Orleans at 514c. 1300 do. Virginia at 51c. 2000 do. Maryland at 53c. all weight, and delivered 100: bash Northern old at 54c., and 1000 do. Jersey Yellow at 54fc., both meas., for the East. The inquiries for Rye for distilling is still good, and we hear of sales of 1800 busb. here, and some 6000 bush to arrive, at 70c. Barley is rather scarce, and 48c. could be taken, but holders ask an advacce. Oats arrived pretty freely to-day, with a fair demand-6 to 8000 bush. Canal at 27tc. We quote 26 a 28c.-At Sborts to 7c; Ship Stutt's 10 a 11c.-Do supplies. Fredericksburg new Wheat was 65 77; at Richmond, 65 85; Corn 45a50. At Chicago, Wheat SSc., and scaree.Corn HAY-There is a little increase in demand, and prices are upsomewhat. A sale of 800 bundles was made for West ladies 40c. We quote 38 40c. The stock is estimated about 8000 bundles. TALLOW-There is a good demand for export at 8c.We notice sales 20,000 lbs. Northern and Boston rendered, ud 25,000 lbs. city rendered sold at 8c. for export. WHISKY-We notice farther sales of 50 bbls. State Pri was 22c., and 20 drudge casks at 22c. SEEDS-Clover is very quiet at 6AC. A sale of between a50tierces Canadian Rough Flax was made at $8 75. A call lot of Timothy sold at $11, and another of Rough fax from New Orleans, not prime, at $9. PROVISIONS-There are considerable orders in market ir prime Pork at shade under $5.50, and soine few huntred bbls. have been sold at $544a $5 47. Mess is worth #50. Lard is wanted at 7c. to an extent beyond the stock, bulberders ask 7 a 7g. Shipping butter is wanted at 6c.The stock is beld at 61; Western 9 12; Goshen 13 a 16, pails 16 a 18.
