DEFENDANTS WIN BANK CASE AFTER FIVE YEAR FIGHT Texas, 10. Five years' through several courts ended Wednesday night when a district jury here returned verdict for the defunct Ranger First National Bank and Its receiver, R. B. Caldwell, defendants in case Involving more than $10,000 alleged to have been placed in the bank on special deposit. Suit was brought by W. W. Price. V. A. Noble, C. S. Wick and H. Devaux, promoters of the Guaranty and State Bank of Ellasville, Young county, which they attempted to organize in 1920. The receiver alleged that the four were professional bank promoters and that they had collected $22,000 in notes and $13,000 in cash from farmers about Ellasville to open the Ellasville bank. The promoters claimed they deposited the money in the Ranger bank as trust fund until $60,000 cash, required for the new bank's charter, had been obtained. The Ellasville bank never opened as the Ranger bank closed with the former's funds It was proven yesterday that the money was checking account and that the Ellasville promoters had drawn on the funds. It was also shown that the promoters lost nothing and that the losers were farmers, some of whom were to have been directors of the Ellasville bank.
