$1.00 $1.50 If the city councilmen should appoint Grover Alberty as chief of police to succeed John Ferguson, Jan. 1st. they will have a man in that office who will crate no dissension among his fellow townsmen. He is the popular man for that position. Grover is one of our present deputies. who automatically loses his position at the first of the year. He is a man. we trust. who will champion the cause of law and order. Mr. Alberty is a middle-aged man. and is one who devotes diligence in his work. This man will not be tied down in any way to where he cannot enforce his onth of office WESTVILLE BANK GIVEN THE ACID TEST The security of the Peole's Bank. Westville. was given the test by certain depositors Tuesday afternoon and all concerned are satisfied as to the safety of the institution. Some depositors of Stilwell. staged a "run" on the bank after hearing erroneous reports as to the institution's safety. The bank paid off all accounts and have ample finances on hand to pay off others who may feel uneasy. The person who started this atrocious prevarication should be vigorously prosecuted.
