BANK EXAMINER CALLED TO STAND Columbus Man Testifies in Woodsfield Woodsfield, O., Aug. 26-State Bank Examiner Taaffel, Columbus, was the principal witness used by the state be the Mooney bank case, on trial in county pleas court here Thursday. Taaffel in charge of the last examination made by the state prior to the closing of the bank on Oct. 1931. He stated that time the was found to failing This nation was made seven days before it closed. He further stated that the report showed the was except for the that time, to the examiner's report, was to be $105,419.37 Taaffel was excused shortly after noon and followed on the stand by Edward McCaulay, McCaulay was called by the state to testify about a loan the bank had made to him on real estate to the value of $4,000, which amount he unable to pay and for which has made for the real estate for the bank Chester H. Steele, vice president of Quaker City bank Quaker City, was called by the state to testify the fact that W. Douglass, cashier of the Monroe bank, has depositor in the Quaker City bany since 1926, and the still open. The last deposit was made on Sept. 26, 1931, to the amount of D. P. Powell, formerly of Woodsfield, now resident the netx witness called. His testiwas concerning money loaned to him by the Monroe bank, which the present time he is unable to pay, he Other called to testify Thursday were Woodsfield. and W. W. Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband, daughters one Mrs. Helen Nalley, of Ashland; Mrs. Geneva Schmenk, Woodsfield, and Robert Morris, High School Registration The Woodsfield schools will open Monday, Sept. 5, and all high school students are requested to register for their course according to the followschedule: Sept. 1, at m. Sept. at Friday, Sept. at 9 a. m. Friday, Sept. 2, at m. M. Ray Morris superintendent. Golf Tourament Monroe Country club will hold a golf tournament Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1 o'clock. The tournament is open to both men and women members the club. W. Heeting Woodsfield W. C. T. U. will hold called meeting at the home of Mrs. Ella Beardmore on Thursday evening, Sept. o'clock. Officers will be elected. Every member is requested to be present. Center Grange Center grange will hold its next regular meeting on Monday Aug. 20, o'clock After the business session the Belmont grange of Barnesville will have the program. All members are urged to present.

The four. H. Mooney, W. Douglass and Richner, are accused of accepting deposits after they knew bank insolvent. The case is being Judge H. Thomas Marietta, sitting in place of Judge D. Richner. brother of of the defendants. The défense waived trial by jury. The trial is in its second week with the state still presenting testimony.
